How to Manage Your Energy

People always say, "Be mindful of your time and money," but what about your energy? Energy is the real game-changer—because without it, nothing else moves!

Your energy is what grows the business. So you better have enough energy for your business, or you’re in trouble!

Here are some practical tips to help you sustain your energy and avoid burnout:

1. Notice Where You Spend Your Energy

Start by evaluating how you spend your energy each day.

Notice where your body and mind feel excited and happy, and where they feel contracted, restrictive, or a bit down like a Debbie Downer.

You don’t need to create reasons or excuses why you feel this way; just take note of it.

How do you feel during the moment and after? This self-awareness will give you a good indicator of whether a situation needs to change—either by removing yourself from it or doing a mental reframe.

2. Know What Matters to You

Understanding what brings joy and/or productivity to your life is essential. By identifying what activities and values bring meaning to your life, you can start prioritizing them in your schedule. Protect these activities because they’re important to your well-being.

3. Plan What You Don’t Want to Invest Your Energy In

Make a list of activities that drain your energy and decide not to waste your time on them.

A popular example is doom-scrolling right before bed—it always puts me in a bad funk! So, I use app blockers to prevent this.

For social hangouts, I’ve switched from open-ended evenings hang outs to 2-hour meet-ups. It might sound strict, but it’s a game-changer—I’m more present, make better connections, and free up more time. Give it a shot!

4. Set Upper and Lower Boundaries

It's important to establish clear boundaries and limits for daily activities. Just like I did with my social activities, create limits.

For example, designate a minimum of two customer consultations and a maximum of five per day. This structure lets you provide attentive service without feeling rushed, ensuring each interaction is meaningful while preventing burnout in the long run.

By adopting these strategies, you’ll be better equipped to manage your energy and focus it on what truly matters. Remember, your energy is the fuel for your business, so let’s keep it thriving!

Remember, it's not what you do but how you do it! Style supersedes everything!
